I can’t believe we are almost through Nico’s first year of life. The past year has flown by and she has been nothing short of amazing. She is about 30″ tall now and 20.5-21 lbs. She can kiss on the cheek, stand without help, and dance! You may wonder, is she walking or talking yet? See for yourself:
Nico’s first Christmas February 3, 2010
We had a wonderful Christmas holiday in Maryland with the Thomas family and a fun New Year’s eve in South Carolina at Teresa and Kevin’s restaurant, Southern Caviar. Here are some of the pics.

Nico is 9 months old and can now wave hi/bye and clap her hands, which makes it easier to tell what kind of mood she’s in since she never really had body language before. She is so fun-loving, she laughs and smiles at any face I or other people make, and she is rarely shy and I love that about her. I can’t wait until I can have a conversation with her. I just know she is going to be hilarious.
She weighs 19 lbs. 8 oz, is 28 1/2 inches tall, with a head circumference of 44 cm, and has a 7th tooth coming in!
I finally got video of her strumming the guitars on our stand – enjoy!
Swinging into Winter November 23, 2009
We wanted to see if Nico would be into a swing set at all at 8 1/2 months, so we went to a newly built park in Emeryville to test it out.
If you watch closely, you can tell in this video that she is using her legs to swing on her own, which is pretty impressive. More shots below.
Month 8 begins, the making of a musician November 11, 2009
Nico can pluck the strings of a guitar and ukelele, and she sometimes hums the note she is striking. She plays with the knobs on the guitar, too. It’s not like we are even encouraging her to play, as I think it’s natural for babies to want to make sounds with objects, but these happen to be her favorite toys! As you can guess, we are O.K. with it. As Uncle Paul says, “Whoa, she can say she’s played guitar since she was 8 months!”
Also, she can play peek-a-boo with people on her own by bowing down and then looking up, which is pretty cute. She also loves to stand and look out the window and kiss the glass. Muah!
